Featured on the Winter Dreams Concert, presented by The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, under the direction of Dr. Robert W. Butts, will be pianist Ron Levy and baritone Mark Fitzgerald Wilson.  The concert will take place at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 13, at Grace Church, 4 Madison Avenue, Madison.

The concert will present a selection of interesting and diverse music by Lee Hoiiby and Ludwig van Beethoven, as well as the premiere of a work by Dr. Butts entitled Suite for a Mid-Winter Afternoon. Conductor and Music Director Robert Butts is the founder of The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey. He has led the Orchestra’s development from a Baroque ensemble to an orchestra that plays a wide variety of the classical and operatic musical repertoire.    Dr. Butts has gained critical attention for his composing endeavors as well as being a fabled teacher and lecturer.  His most recent work was written with New Jersey playwright Jewel Seehaus Fisher, Mark Twain and the General.  It premiered at the Orchestra’s annual Summer Music Festival at Grace Church in August 2012.

Mr. Levy will play Piano Concerto #1, by Ludwig van Beethoven.  An internationally acclaimed pianist, he has been called “first-class” by the New York Times.  He regularly appears as a soloist and in partnership with many of the world’s leading singers and instrumentalists.  A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory, Mr. Levy is a founding member of the Hudson Trio, Kaleidoscope, the New World Trip, the Manchester Chamber Players and the award-winning Palisades Virtuosi.

He has been pianist and harpsichordist of the Oberlin Orchestra, the Adelphi Chamber Orchestra, the New Jersey and North Jersey Philharmonics, the Westchester Symphony and the Albany Symphony. Mr. Levy has taught at many universities and is currently an instructor at Montclair State University. He maintains an active affiliation with the Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard and NJ PAC.

Mark Fitzgerald Wilson has performed multiple roles with The Oratorio Society, including the title role of Benjamin Britten’s Noye’s Fludde and  baritone solos in Carmina Burana and Saint-Saens’ Christmas Oratorio.  Mr. Wilson was a Met regional finalist, a two-time winner of the Bel Canto Opera Scholarship fund and the first place winner of the Orlando Opera’s Heinz Refuss Actor Competition.

The concert will open with Beethoven's dynamic Overture to the Creatures of Prometheus.

Also appearing on the concert will be the talented boys ensemble Gargoyles, founded and coached by Dr. Anne Matlack at Grace Church.  The boys will be singing selections from American traditional harmonic singing - including Shape Note selections from Sacred Harp and from Barbershop collections.
