The Baroque Orchestra of North Jersey was founded ten years ago to provide opportunities for musicians and audiences to enjoy the music of the Baroque and Classical eras, the music of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven.  In addition to these popular works by these major composers, the orchestra also presents rarely heard masterpieces by them and their contemporaries.  At times, as in the annual Wassail concerts, the orchestra stretches beyond the period to include music of the Romantic and Modern eras as well.  The orchestra's dynamic style makes every event a special musical occasion.

November 19, 2006 marks the opening of our 2006-2007 Season with a salute to two composers who have been popular in America for over two hundred years: Handel and Haydn.  World renowned Israeli cellist Amit Peled makes his  metropolitan orchestral debut with a stunning interpretation of Haydn's great D major concerto in a concert also featuring Haydn's delightful Symphony #88 and selected Handel arias.

January 7, 2007 is the date for our annual mid-winter Wassail.  This year we will warm up the season with a special Lover's Wassail.  Celebrating love and romance will be husband and wife performers Michael Avagliano, who thrilled the audience with his interpretation of Haydn's Violin Concerto at the 2006 Wassail, and Evelyn Estava for a personally romantic version of Mozart's dynamic Sinfonia Concertante.  For all the opera fans who follow the orchestra, soprano Marjorie Berg and tenor Daniel Foran - tenderly loving in their delightful Don Giovanni duet - will bring the music of Giacomo Puccini to Grace Church in the tender love scene from Act I of La Boheme.

2007-03-25 - We invite you to share our fifth Family Concert.  Our 2006 Family Concert included a very special performance by fourteen year old fiddle champion Connor Dugan Leszczuk.  On March 25, 2007, Connor will be joined by his sister Sharlys on the Celtic harp for a series of pieces arranged by Maestro Butts featuring harp/fiddle and orchestra.  Musicians from the orchestra will also play selections demonstrating their talents and the variety of instrumental colors within the orchestra.  Admission to our Family Concert Event is FREE to everybody!

May 6, 2007 will feature the eagerly anticipated return of the pianist Paul Zeigler as he and the orchestra continue to explore the piano concertos and the symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven.  The 2007 concert will feature the stirring Piano Concerto #4 and the enigmatic Symphony #4.

June 9, 2007 - This increasingly popular Saturday evening Chamber Music Concert will feature musicians from the orchestra.

June 10, 2007 - As in the past, this Sunday Concert will feature the full orchestra playing a variety of works by Vivaldi, The Red Priest.  Special guests for this exciting event include one of New Jersey's premiere choral ensembles: Harmonium, directed by Anne Matlack, who will join Maestro Butts and the orchestra for the beloved Vivaldi Gloria and Magnificat.
